Student Health Services

School Programs

Dates: Varies at each school

Service Description: The Student Health Services program provides outreach support to students at their school. We aim to eliminate barriers young people face when accessing health care. Health professionals are available to meet students one to one to support students with their physical and emotional well-being.  Supports available:

Registered Nurse (in highschools) and Nurse Practitioner (Collingwood Alternative School):

Students can see the Nurse for any issues relating to their physical and mental well-being.

Students can see the Nurse for health education, sexual health (healthy relationships, birth control, sexually transmitted infections, pregnancy); mental health (anxiety, depression, eating disorder, self harm); smoking, or common illnesses and injuries.

Youth Outreach Worker:

Students can see the Youth Outreach Worker for any issues relating to their social and emotional well-being. Students can see the Youth Outreach Worker for support if they want to talk about school stress, bullying, symptoms of depression, anxiety, poor self-esteem or body image issues, relationships problems, issues at home, school concerns, and other life challenges.

To register/access service: Students can access services on their own or school staff can make a referral. Students can request services through a confidential self-referral drop box located in their Guidance office. The easiest way for school staff and community partners to make a referral is in person, by email or by consulting the student and then placing their name into the drop box.

Cost: All services are free of charge and open to any student.

Locations: Collingwood Collegiate Institute, Jean Vanier Catholic High School, Stayner Collegiate Institute, Elmvale District High School, Collingwood Learning Centre, Collingwood Alternative School
