Make a Difference on our Board of Directors
Serving on the South Georgian Bay Community Health Centre’s Board of Directors is a great opportunity for anyone who is passionate about giving back to their community. Working together with our clients and our community to build equitable access to excellent healthcare is at the heart of what we do. We collaborate with clients, partner organizations and community members to understand local issues and deliver local solutions to address the health and social needs of those living with vulnerabilities. We are seeking applications from dedicated, community-minded individuals who have an interest or expertise in one or more of the following categories:
-Interest or experience in governance, community engagement, accounting, healthcare, social services, or communications
-Knowledge of the social determinants of health that can have a profound impact on individual and community health, such as poverty, social isolation, chronic disease, homelessness, unemployment, oppression, food insecurity, physical barriers, and mental health and addictions issues
-Understand the challenges and barriers that people experience when accessing health care and social service support in our region
The SGBCHC is committed to building a culturally diverse board and strongly encourages applications from visible minorities, Francophones, Indigenous Peoples, individuals with disabilities, or any individual in the population we serve.
New strategic plan to guide South Georgian Bay CHC’s work
In 2021, the Board of Directors worked with stakeholders to develop the South Georgian Bay CHC’s 2021-2024 Strategic Plan. Our work is guided by our vision of the health and wellbeing of those we serve and our mission to build collaborative and inclusive pathways to health. Our board, staff, programs and services are united by our values: To be inclusive, collaborative, accessible, respectful, and equitable to EVERYONE in our community. Board Members, staff and volunteers work together to address our strategic directions of Advancing our Community, Advancing our Culture, and Advancing our System.
Community ties
Board members must live, work, or study within the South Georgian Bay region which includes Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Clearview and The Town of The Blue Mountains
Modest time requirement
We expect that Board members are available for two early evening meetings per month – each no more than two hours in duration. Some time commitment is also necessary for meeting preparation. Usually the Board and Committees do not meet in the two summer months or in December.
