Who are we?
The SGBCHC is a non-profit, community-governed, charitable organization. We provide primary health care services and aligned programs focused on illness prevention, health promotion and community development. Based on our belief that EVERYONE has the right to accessible health care, our programs and services are available to all members of our community at no cost, especially those who experience barriers accessing health care.
Collaboration is at our core
Working together with our clients and our community partners is at the heart of our model of care. It is essential that SGBCHC has a dynamic Board made up of engaged community members who work collaboratively to support the organization in the development and delivery of excellent health care services to the communities we serve.
The SGBCHC is an anchor partner of the recently approved South Georgian Bay Ontario Health Team, a collaborative initiative to organize and deliver care that is more connected to patients in South Georgian Bay.
As well, we will soon be putting the first shovel in the ground for our new dedicated building that will house our staff as well as other health care professionals from some of our community partners in a collaborative setting.
We need what you have to offer
It takes a blend of a wide range of community-based skills and experiences to sustain our Board and keep it effective. Backgrounds in healthcare, law, education, community engagement, communications, volunteering, and governance are just some attractive attributes. There is not one “right” profile. However, with our imminent construction activity, we are actively seeking some individuals with knowledge and experience in construction, project management, and finance.
Community ties
Board members must live, work, or study within the South Georgian Bay region which includes Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Clearview and The Town of The Blue Mountains
Modest time requirement
We expect that Board members are available for two early evening meetings per month – each no more than two hours in duration. Some time commitment is also necessary for meeting preparation. Usually the Board and Committees do not meet in the two summer months or in December.
