Become a Board Member

Are you passionate about community health and improving the wellbeing of residents in South Georgian Bay? The South Georgian Bay Community Health Centre (SGBCHC) is currently seeking strategic, forward thinking volunteer Board members to help lead our mission of delivering equitable and accessible healthcare services to our community.

As a member of our Board of Directors, you will contribute to a culture of shared responsibility, bringing your unique perspectives to the table alongside other dedicated volunteer board members. Together, you’ll help develop and implement our strategic plan, monitor performance, assess risks, and ensure the sustainability of our operations.

The SGBCHC is committed to ensuring our Board reflects the diverse communities we serve. We strongly encourage individuals from diverse backgrounds, including Francophones, Indigenous Peoples, persons with lived experience and individuals with disabilities to apply.

We are seeking individuals who are passionate about community health and want to contribute to the wellbeing of our community.

What we’re looking for:

  • • Interest in community health and wellbeing
  • • A desire to improve healthcare access and equity
  • • A commitment to shaping the healthcare landscape in South Georgian Bay
  • • An understanding of the social determinants of health (e.g., income, housing, food security) and how these factors affect the health of individuals
  • • Experience in one or more of the following:
    • — Financial Management
    • — Capital Project Management
    • — Fundraising

While previous Board experience is not required, it is considered an asset.

Time commitment & terms:

  • • Meetings are a mix of in-person and virtual, offering flexibility for Board members
  • • Board members must live, work, or study in Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Clearview, Elmvale, The Town of The Blue Mountains, or surrounding areas
  • • Two meetings per month from September to June, each up to 2 hours in the early evening
  • • Additional time required for meeting preparation
  • • Board terms are 1 to 3 years with a total term limit of 6 years
  • • This is a volunteer (unpaid) position
