Family Support Programs

All of our programs are free of charge and open to everyone in the community. If you have issues accessing these programs such as transportation, physical or language barriers, please let our program staff know and we will work with you to eliminate this barrier. After Baby

A 6-week mom and baby group to meet other moms in the area who are looking for support and experiencing challenges after the birth of the baby. Mood changes, relationships, difficult emotions, how to take care of yourself, and build coping strategies are some topics discussed in this group.

Community Closet

The SGBCHC Community Closet is a small effort to provide clients with access to free personal and household items including gently used clothing, shoes, accessories, and new personal hygiene products. Clients are welcome to visit the closet when they come in for their appointments.

Dental Hygiene Clinic

The dental hygiene students at Georgian College visit the SGBCHC once per year to provide clients with oral health assessments, oral health education, denture cleaning, and preventive procedures (cleaning/polishing/fluoride treatment). If you are interested in booking an appointment, please ask your health care provider to send a referral or sign up at SGBCHC reception.

MotherCare and Next Step

MotherCare is a friendly and supportive drop-in environment for pregnant women and new babies up to 8 weeks. The program promotes healthy pregnancies by providing support and information on a wide-range of relevant issues such as breast-feeding, health, pre and postnatal nutrition and community resources. In addition, free milk, nutritious foods, and prenatal vitamins are provided.

Next Step is a continuation of the MotherCare program and addresses an identified gap in services for at-risk women and children between the ages of 9 weeks and 36 months. The program supports healthy families by providing nutrition, health, parenting and child development information and resources for women. Free milk and nutritious foods are also provided. Free transportation is provided to those who require it.
